I now understand that there are some things in life, some achievements, which come around and should be recognized and held as groundbreaking - even historical.

On January 9, 2013, the Albuquerque Sign Language Academy received an approval letter from the New Mexico Public Education Department making it the first, and currently the only, state certified American Sign Language-English Bilingual program in New Mexico - and possibly the nation. This is an exciting opportunity for us at the ASL Academy as we are given the responsibility of helping create a teacher certification program that has never existed. We are in the process of connecting to local and national education experts in order to design something exceptional.

This new certification represents the spirit of our little school. We want to be recognized as the best at what we do. We want to push in places that others say cannot be moved. This attitude was present in the creation of the school, and it will continue as we develop the best possible educational program for our students.
